Getting a butterfly


1)   Click on the Animals link

Choose the Animals Category

First you are going to go to About.com's clip art site, linked to below (note: clicking on that link will automatically open up a new window so you can keep these instructions open in one window, and navigate through About.com's clipart site in the other window


2)  Choose the Insects category

Choose the Animals Category

Chick on the category that says Insects and Bugs . . .


3)  Click on Butterflies and Moths from the list that pops up

4)  Choose which alphabetic range to look at

5)  Choose a specific butterfly clip art site

6)  Position your mouse over a specific butterfly image on the web page

7)  Get the special save menu for images

On a Mac, click and hold down your mouse over a butterfly
On a PC, right mouse click and hold down over a butterfly and you'll get a menu which will look something like this


8)  Save the Image to your hard drive

Choose Save Image As or if that is not an option, look for something similar, such as Download Image to Disk or Save Image to Disk


9)  Get the Save Dialog Box

Navigate to the place on your hard drive where you might want to save your butterfly (My Documents is a good place on PCs). Name the file anything you want at this stage (any name you will remember, giving it a .gif extension if it is a gif or a .jpg extension if it is a jpg image. Then click on the save button.


9)  Open it with a web browser

Go to the File menu of your web browser and do the following:

If using Netscape, choose Open Page and navigate (Browse) to the place on your hard drive where you see saved that butterfly. Click on the Open button.

If using Internet Explorer, choose Open File and navigate (Browse) to the place on your hard drive where you see saved that butterfly. Click on the Open button.

If you have downloaded the graphic successfully, you should see a butterfly!
