Computer Information Systems
The CIS major is designed to help students acquire the knowledge and skills required for entry-level positions in the field of computer systems and information technology. Classroom instruction, intensive lab work, and optional internships with local employers provide the student with the knowledge and skills necessary for a variety of positions in this rapidly advancing field.

Employment in this field may involve the installation and operation of microcomputer, network, and/or internetworking systems, the development of programmed applications, and/or the technical support and training of users of these systems. The program offers two options: A 33-unit Certificate of Proficiency and an Associate of Science degree

The Computer & Information Systems program begins with a set of introductory courses that covers the fundamentals of computer systems and develops basic familiarity with the most common computer applications. Following this, students take intermediate courses in computer hardware, operating systems and networks, as well as an independent study course exploring the current opportunities in the computer technology field.
